    Hi,

    I have a problem…

I can log into my own blog (joelafferty.com/blog) which has username of admin and known password – let me call that (a).

however, when i tried to post on another wordpress blog, it came up with a dialog box asking me for username and password. when i try the one above (a), nothing.
    (blog here: https://www.gerryhassan.com/?p=501#more-501)

then i found my old log in to wordpress (i used to have my blog on wordpress.com (https://joelafferty.wordpress.com/) – and i could not remember my password – call this (b). here my username is joelafferty

also… i recall having to get a different password to access my wordpress stats – this could be the same as (b)? let’s call this (c). of course this may be www.ads-software.com and not wordpress.com…

now I thought i had reset all these passwords to be the same, but apparenly not. i did ask wordpress to reset the password for my login joelafferty.com, it has done this and I now have a brand new password that lets me log into this forum and also (b)… but…

this still does not let me log onto the wordpress blog of my friend to post a comment.

    Help?

  • First understand that wordpress.COM is a blogging service and is not the same as installing WordPress (from www.ads-software.com) at your own host.

With that said, your login for your copy of WordPress that is installed in your particular domain, is not the same login that you would use at other WordPress blogs.

    Hi MichaleH,

thanks for quick reply! Understand the difference (a little!) having read the other posts.

i’m a bit puzzled tho, as no matter what log in I use, the site will not accept me.

I’m wondering if my wordpress log in is getting confused – my web designer has created a fantastic new wordpress theme for my bussiness website at https://www.lifetree.co.uk (not live yet), and he has used the same username (joelafferty) as I used for my own blog (hosted at joelafferty.com). Clearlly they have different passwords, but the same username. may that be confusing things?

    ta,

    Joe

    DUH!

    PEBKAS error!!!

just realised that my colleage has his website set up to register individual users, so I need to re-register to comment on his website, i cannot log on with any of my (multiple!!) wordpress usernames / passwrods.

    sorry!!

Joe (away to eat some humble pie)

Yes the designer you have created a new blog with a user that just happens to be the same user name you use on your blog. But the two blogs do no share logins or passwords.
