Log-in gone, then blog gone after backup

I went to post to my blog and the log in link was gone. I had made no changes to my blog. I saw oncodex that sometimes the log in is corrupt and how to fix it under wp-login. I found it, but my code was the same as the fix. In order to try to download this file, I saw instructions to backup the database and the wordpress site. I did both exactly like the instructions said and now, when I log on, my blog and wordpress are gone, with a 401 page missing error. I tried restoring the backup database and it appears to work, but still no blog. In looking at filezilla, my site files are still all there. What happened and how do I fix it? I tried to download WordPress and get an error message that there can be only 1 script in the root directory or something like that. Please help me, I am completely frustrated with WordPress.
