• I have a website https://www.ask-here.co.uk which was working fine. I then uploaded a new copy of wordpress to a different domain did some work, got the page running and now my original website does not work.

I have now deleted the 2nd installation but nothing gives. The admin log in come up with ‘Most likely causes:
    ?The website is under maintenance.
?The website has a programming error.’

I am new to wordpress and rarely make changes to my orginal site but can only assume that the congig file has been corrupted insome way and I do not know how to sort.

I can not log in but I do have access the intallation and all files.I have tried to sort via the change password stuff but need some very basic instructions of how to turn back time and get this up and running again.

If any fiels need emailing can do. My biggest problem is that I do not know how to find the actual pages if I have to start over?

    Help please

  • Hi katelee123, when I visit https://www.ask-here.co.uk/ I get a blank page. A blank page is usually due to a WordPress encountering a PHP error, however your setup is set to hide the errors. The first step in resolving this issue is to found out what error is causing the blank page.

To see the error message, you can set ‘WP_DEBUG’ to ‘true’ in your wp-config.php file.

    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Editing_wp-config.php#Debug

You may need to use FTP access to edit your wp-config file. If you’re unfamiliar with FTP, check with your host as they may have a “File Manager” that you can use to edit your wp-config.php file.

If you can make those changes, respond back with any error messages you are seeing when you visit your page.

Brad, thanks for taking a look, in my annoyance at this problem, which I have struggled with all day, I downloaded a new copy of wp in another domain and I am now transferring the files which I saved to it.

I found the MSQ stuff and all the posts and saved them in a text editor and now mostly have it up and running.

Will completly delete the first copy of wp once done so that I can start again on the old domain and use for something else.

I did try to set it up as a multi domain but couldnt get it working right so he ho!

    Thanks once again
