• Hi there,

    I accessed my site through Hostgator CPanel yesterday and it wanted to update wordpress, which i did.

    I tried to log in to wordpress and therein lies my problem. I have read just about every document I can find, but it remains that I cannot access wordpress admin…keeps saying the password is incorrect. I have now tried all combinations, even though I had the info written down, that i can think of.

    I mistakenly went to wordpress.com….They have sent me back here as Hostgator hosts the site.

    I need a webmaster or forum administrator to contact me so i can reset both the username and password so I can access my site.

    PLEASE ??
    Michelle

    Sorry…the website is planecreeksustainablefarmrs.com …I forgot to mention that.

    With a self-hosted wordpress blog, you are the web master! ?? You will need to reset your password directly. The phpMyAdmin method may be quick if you have that tool available in cPanel. Take a look at these instructions and see what you think.

    Hi Clayton..Many thanks for responding.

    Where do I find Users in Hostgators CPanel? or are you talking about wordpress here?

    Question Clayton…

    ok I have found php admin…..reading through printed instructions. I have a list of databases. How can I tell it is the one I want? Can I click and look without changing anything? I don’t want to lose the site and have to start over. (there is a bold warning about loss of data!)

    It will be the database that you created for your wordpress installation. If you aren’t sure, take a look inside of your wp-config.php file, and the name of the database will be around line 18 and 19. It should look something like this;

    /** The name of the database for WordPress */
    define(‘DB_NAME’, ‘database_name_here‘);

    ok got the right one….have opened structure…..

    okay am in…..user login name is what i had….the password thing is a bunch of letters and numbers and the user nickname is wrong and so is my email…so would be kind enough to help me through this next bit?

    There isnt a way to make sure planecreeksustainablefarmers.com does not get deleted accidentally doing this …is there?

    Actually…I am not sure about that email…it says [email protected] which i may have done…and then totally forgottten about. Is it possible to have my everyday email addy or does it have to be the hosting one?

    have php admin open and ready to go ??

    Clayton…..I followed the directions to the letter…tried to log in and cannot…error the password you have entered for the username “admin” is incorrect. is the message I am getting…

    I have double checked…i changed the password..and that password is now reflected in the coding if you click on edit near the profiling box (I did not touch anything…just looked in there )…..so now I don’t know where to go or what to do. I have even gone back and redone every step….but it will not allow me to log in. I did not change anything but the password either.

    Take a look at this tutorial, just to make sure you didn’t miss a step.
