Log in with E-mail address?

  • It would be really nice if people could login using their e-mail address instead of user name. Especially since we are using Shopp, which does allow people to log in with email address. It’s going to get really confusing.

    I noticed that there are some plugins that allow this. Is it a good idea to use one of those with WP-Members? Anyone try it?

    This might be worth looking into for future WP-Members versions.

    WP-Members utilizes the WordPress user tables in order to be as compatible as possible. This requires the use of a username that is separate from email address.

    That’s fine and totally understandable. I just re-read the documentation and realized I could simply turn off the ability to register through WP and will use Shopp only, eliminating the possibility of conflict.

    Oh ick. There is one problem. I use the More tag and custom fields block = true for protected posts. The problem with this is that the WP-members login screen does show up underneath the excerpt, which again if they are used to logging in with their email address, is confusing. Is there a way to get rid of the login? Thank you.
