Log Report Confusion

    Client reporting Log Report heading Reason is confusing. Does Reason mean Reason for blocking? If yes, Why does is say an authenticated user Reason is Authenticated User Login. Does Reason sometimes mean Reason for NOT blocking? How do we know when a reason reported means it got blocked or not blocked?

    Added:
    We are also getting a many many /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php attempts in Log with REASON Google IP: 66.249.64.151. Does this mean it is blocking Google bot? Or is it reporting Google IP: 66.249.64.151 to say the REASON is the google bot was not blocked?

    And does Good Cache in REASON mean it was not blocked?

  • Hi Blair,

    Things will continue to improve to become easier to use and understand, but for now, I would just think of REASON like this, it’s the reason the event was logged, regardless of whether the event is considered “good” or “bad.”

    Good Cache = Allowed
    Bad Cache = Denied

    Yes, 66.249.64.151 is an official IP of the Googlebot.

    I think I would need to see the log to answer further, but I don’t want you to post anything potentially sensitive here, so we’d need to take the conversation private:

    One last item if you don’t mind regarding the log: We have a username in the BLOCK list. However that username appears on REASON as “Allow List Email:” Does the plugin think I have this username in the Allow List or am I using the Block list wrong? Thanks again.

    I would really need to understand the full context; to look at both your Allow and Block lists, as well as review your logs. Please don’t share them publicly.
