    I upgraded to version 2.9.2 a while back and since then my ability to edit posts has been revoked! The option is not available. Also, I see a message to upgrade to v3.0 however it reads:
    “WordPress 3.0 is available! Please notify the site administrator”

    I would usually have the link available to upgrade but not anymore.
    I have no plugins installed, so we can rule that out as the culprit.

    Any ideas?

  • We you go edit your profile what does it show your role as?

    I can’t find any indication of my role on the profile page? Just the standard stuff I can edit like my name and password, etc.

    Plan B

    Log into cPanel -> phpmyadmin

    Click wp_usermeta

    In meta_value do you see anything like

    a:1:{s:13:"administrator";b:1;}

    Hmm.. I see that under capabilities, yes. But capabilities is actually listed twice (along with all the other fields), and the second instance I see for capabilities is a:1:{s:6:"author";b:1;}

    Am I to assume that I’m logged in as the second instance, or user?? If so, how did that happen and how do I get the admin account?

    Thanks for your help wpbum!

    Backup your DB first…

    Find the ID of the one that has admin rights.

    Go to wp_users and delete the other one going by ID. So basically delete the user with Author rights.

    Log out, log in

    Okay, there is only one user in the user table and it’s the ID of the Author. Shall I just change the ID to that of the admin?? Will that cause any unforeseen issues?

    Not that I can think of.

    Change it to “administrator”.

    If something isnt right then go back to author.

    Woohoo!

    A frosty ??
