    Hi Thomas,

It seems the “top and bottom margins” of a fixed widget change depending on if a user is logged in or not. Is this a bug?

    Cheers,
    Ivo

    Hi Ivo,

    thanks for reaching out.

There shouldn’t be a difference in the behavior based on the log-in state, as long as the site doesn’t change.

Custom code, a plugin feature, some optimization plugin, or caching can all be causes for sites being different when a user is logged in. Since I cannot reproduce a behavior that you mentioned on my test site, I guess it might be one of the above and not an issue in Fixed Widget.

If you have a public site and the logged-out status is the one you believe is showing something wrong then please let me know where I can see it. Maybe that sparks another idea.

    Thanks,
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,

It seems the WordPress Admin Bar that usually shows on top of the page for logged in users, is pushing down the fixed widget by its height. Can you reproduce this behavior?

If I hide the WordPress Admin Bar for logged in users everything works as expected, meaning there’s no difference based on the login-state.

    Cheers,
    Ivo

    Hi Ivo,

    thanks for narrowing it down!
Yes, I can confirm the behavior that the fixed position starts measuring from the bottom of the admin toolbar.

I am not sure if this is a bug or feature ??
Does it break something in your use case?

    Thanks,
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,

The widget was showing differently, depending on the login status. However, now that I made the change of the float property of the non-fixed widget before, this issue has also disappeared.

No further investigation needed from your side.

    Cheers,

    Ivo
