Logged In Users Sometimes are Stuck in Login Screen

  • Hello. I love the plugin, and it works perfectly, except for the occasions when users log in then are redirected to log in again, but meanwhile they cannot access the protected content. I’ve figured out that they have to manually log out, clear their browser cookies, exit their browser, reopen their browser, and log in again, but some of my users are not up to that level of skill, and it’s a clear annoyance.

    Is there some trick to fixing this on the dashboard side? I read a post about requiring a second login (fixed by changing the general level protection for each page to specific membership levels) — could that be the solution? I think my problem is a little different from that poster’s in that without logging out, clearing cookies, and restarting their browser, my members can’t get into the premium content at all (attempts to re-login result in additional requests to log in but no access to content).

    Do you have any advice? Thank you!

    PS I do have consistent links (force https and all using www version) and have seen the recs on the plugin site.

    That is an unusual behavior. Something is conflicting somewhere. Do you have any caching on this site that might be contributing to this? A caching plugin or caching being used by your hosting provider on their end?

    Thanks for your quick response. I do have a caching plugin, but there’s no way for me to know if the users’ browsers are caching (and the answer always seems to be for them to clear their cookies). My hosting service also has a 3-hour caching setup, which I could disable if I had to.

    @amy55, can you try to exclude the plugins login page from being cached locally and in your server cache system? Let us know if this helps you.
