I just activated the plugin on my new site, copied all the settings of WPDiscuz from my old site over. At Admin / Settings / Discussion / Other comment settings I checked “Users must be registered and logged in to comment”, but for some reason, on the old site, when a guest visits, the “You must be logged in to post a comment.”will show up but not the new site, where guest is still asked for username, email, website and captcha code and is able to post comments.

Also, when clicking on username or gravatar on new site, it is not clickable and won’t be directed to Ultimnate Memebers profile page. I already have the UM integratiuon codes pasted onto my new site’s child theme functions.php file.

Both functions worked fine on old site but not the new site when all settings are the same. I deactivated all plugins on new sites but did not help anything.

So I’m wondering if it is Ultimate Member’s recent major update caused the problem since that’s the main difference between my two sites – old site used old version of UM whileas new site uses the updated version.

In the recent UM major update, they changed their user roles from UM-specific user roles (community roles) to the WP standard user roles to make it easier for us to integrate UM to other WP plugins.

    Thank you.

Juts to let you know I just tried deactivated wpDiscuz and when logged-out, I’d see “You must log in to comment”, but right after re-activating wpDiscuz, that message disappeared and I could still post comment when logged-out.

    Thank you.

wpDiscuz has its own option for enable/disable comment form for users.
Please navigate to Dashboard > Comments > Forms.
    Edit the Form.
There is “Allow guests to comment” option. Check “No”.

On this Form setting page under

Display comment form for post types

I uncheck Post and Page but the comment form still show up. I don’t understand why and can’t seem to get rid of it.

I apologize for the inconvenience. This site is a demo site from a hosting company so the host company hides the site from the public until we pay for it. Before that, even i have to sign into their server first before I get to login my site.

    Please go to this page.

This is a post and you’ll see the comment form is still there even though I unchecked post and page for “Display comment form for post types” at Form settings.

    Thank you.

I don’t see wpDiscuz here. This is your theme comment system. There is no any component of wpDiscuz on this page so neither wpDiscuz option will affect your comment section.

I recommend change the theme to default theme and test wpDiscuz, this theme looks outdated. It seems it doesn’t have WordPress comment functions in template file so wpDiscuz has no chance to be loaded.
