I was recently blocked from logging in by Wordfence. I was able to get back in for now. The issue I am having is someone is trying to access the site from what Wordfence is detecting as my IP address 198.143.60.8. See link:
    Failed Logins

Wordfence on this particular website thinks 198.143.60.8 is my IP address as noted by my successful logins – see link:
    Correct Logins

Other WordPress sites that I use Wordfence on correctly detect my IP as another address and that is indeed my correct IP address, not the one mentioned above.

How do I get Wordfence to correctly detect my IP address on the site that is having this issue?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

FYI – on my site “How does Wordfence get IPs” is currently set to:
Let Wordfence use the most secure method to get visitor IP addresses. Prevents spoofing and works with most sites. (Recommended)

    Hi @wgfusari,

I looked up the IP address, 198.143.37.15 and it belongs to Incapsula Inc.

They provide CDN services, which your site is probably routed through.

Can you cycle through the different options available within How does Wordfence get IPs until Your IP with this setting matches your true IP? (Your IP can be found here: https://www.google.com/search?q=what+is+my+ip )

I cycled through and “Use the X-Forwarded-For HTTP header. Only use if you have a front-end proxy or spoofing may result” is the only one showing my true IP address. I am still uneasy that someone was trying to login to my site from 198.143.37.15. Should I block that IP?

    Hi @wgfusari,

You should not block the IP 198.143.37.15.

This IP is your website’s proxy, where all traffic is routed through.

Now that Wordfence is getting the correct IP addresses, future attempts with your username can be blocked manually.

Thank you for the responses and help. Is the IP website proxy something that is created through my host company?

Depending on your hosting provider that may be setup automatically and you can reach out to them for more information. It is common to see all or a large amount of traffic coming in from a particular IP if the IP detection is setup incorrectly. This was likely the cause of the issue and hopefully you’ve noticed it is better now.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.
