I would like to have a page were users can register details, once complete they will have access to a very simplified backend page were they can only edit a predefined template with text boxes nothing else. Is there a simple way to do this?

  • It depends on what you understand by “simple” ?? For example I think it’s a mess the windows setup of wordpress as my background is from Linux boxes.

There are several plugins who could add to you wp-signup page, however if you want a quick and simple solution to the signing process, you could create a custom form page to let people register and create their user from there.

Look at the different dashboards and backends the different users have access according to their roles. If you don’t want to craft your own register page and process with HTML, PHP and MySQL, maybe letting your users register in the normal way in WordPress and then fill their profile as subscribers of your site, the assiging to them the appropiate role you think they deserve, is the easier way to go.
