I’m getting a “Your IP (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) has been flagged for potential security violations” when trying to access my site at /wp-login.php.

The IP address displayed does not match my IP address. I’ve checked my IP address per the recommended services: https://jetpack.me/support/security-features/.

Worst of all. I didn’t want this Jetpack service enabled. I’ve read somewhere that it was enabled by default on a previous release. Not sure I like that.

I’m hosting at WP Engine if that helps. They have their own caching solution, I’ve cleared the WP Engine cache with no success.

Still looking into a solution, but just wanted to register the issue and my general displeasure with having to figure out how to access my own site while Jetpack is blocking me with an IP address that is not my own.

  • Hi Jeremy. I also having same issue. Blocked IP address is Ip address of SiteGround which is my Web Hosting Provider.

    UPDATED
    I solved my issue.

@jeherve I quote part of my message in support ticket to my web hosting company. Hope it will help you to solve other issue. Or probably do something on future Jetpack update.

After thinking awhile, I believe the fault come from my side. Because, before I was blocked by Jetpack, I was testing Jetpack “Subscribe” feature. So I repeatedly submiting my website POP email to test either I will get email if I post new stuffs on wordpress. It’s kinda like spamming. So that probably the reason why I’m getting blocked by Jetpack. Because after I’m getting blocked to login page, I still can subcribe using yahoo/google mail email address. But I cannot subcribe using my website (hosted by Siteground) POP mail address.

I believe most of us isn’t blocked by our own IP address. But we were blocked by ip address of our web hosting provider. That’s why we can’t login. Probably some of us do what I did. Spamming / repeated login or whatever.

    For example:-

Me and @samlloyd1976 is blocked by SiteGround ip address (181.224.158.20)
@anteck is blocked by StableHost ip address (96.127.130.172)
@brian83 is blocked by GoDaddy ip address (rideonstl.org)

@hudi98 I don’t notice any issues with your site configuration. If you’re being blocked from accessing your dashboard this should help:

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

I had a look at your site, but didn’t notice any issues with your site configuration. Could you try the second or third recommendation at the link I posted above to regain access to your dashboard?

Once you’ve done so, do not hesitate to send us an email via this form, and let us know your IP address. We’ll check our logs to try to understand what happened.

    Thanks!
