Login Error 500 message

  • I get the old Error 500: internal server error has occurred when trying to log in this morning. I’ve had it on individual Pages, but I just delete and build a new one.

    This time, I can’t login.

    So, I called 1&1 and also googled & forumed the issue. 1&1 sent me the .htpaccess information. Made a text file in Notepad with code:

    AddType x-mapp-php5 .php

    and tried to insert into wp-admin on Filezilla.

    The problem is, I can’t get FileZilla to work completely — says “failed to write xml file” — which I’m guessing has to do with the login? I can still insert/delete files but I wonder if something’s lost in translation.

    Tried deleting old HTP access files in wp-admin and inserting code–still Error 500 message.

    Any suggestions, Wise Ones? Website is working fine; just can’t login.

  • Same Error 500 thing here. This is what I get when trying to log in.

    Error 500 – Internal server error
    An internal server error has occurred!
    Please try again later.

    Can’t log in today. I used wp-admin yesterday without any problem. Can someone Help Please!

    Surprisingly, 1&1.com walked me through and they actually fixed it on their end. Did something with the .htaccess file and cleaned it up.

    No one was more shocked than me at how quickly it was resolved.
