• Hello there,
I initially thought this was a problem with Ultimate Member and WP5.5, but their team have tested and pointed out that when we switch from Bento to 2020, there are no issues.
The presenting problem happens in WP5.5, and it renders
    (a) login forms invisible
    (b) user profile forms invisible
I’m not sure if there are further errors; this was enough for us to roll back to 5.4.2.
I can forward the correspondence from the UM team, but I myself don’t know what the issue is.
    Thank you!!!

  • I am having the same problem. Using Bento, UM and WP5.5.

If I do an “Inspect Element” the login form appears and I can log in. However, the user account profile does not appear with the “Inspect Element” on.

If I turn the “Inspect Element” off, the user account profile appear.

After the Ultimate Member version 2.1.9 and the SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle version 1.17.7 updates on Sept 9th and 10th, respectively, everything went back to normal. I looked at the change logs and can’t see why these would have made a difference.

Interesting. I updated Bento, plus Ultimate Member and SiteOrigin, then re-upgraded to 5.5.1. Our login and registration forms are all still missing. Ultimate Member actually provided some advice, that:

    https://www.screencast.com/t/HvdRfj812
It’s the main reason for the issue with the unclickable cog. Please check your theme and plugins where they use this code: .primary-menu li a[href*=#] I think the proper syntax is .primary-menu li a[href*=”#”]”

Not sure what’s going on with Bento, but am investigating alternate themes.

For the parent menu items that contain no content, I am simply using a # in the url field when filling in the menu and it is generating the correct code with “#”. The Bento/WP code is correct when I search for .primary-menu .

I did have an error with .primary-menu when this all started but it went away at some point. It is hard to track what is responsible for actions as almost every plugin has come up with updates since the WP5.5 upgrade. I was dreading looking for an alternate theme as many themes are having issues since the upgrade.

Yes, and I gather that that’s why they had to roll out another new version of WP so quickly–they’d deprecated some functions without sufficient warning.
I’m hoping that A/Satori check out this thread and help haha, I’m so desperate! I’ve purchased another theme just-in-case, but would rather stick with the one we already have–it’s been so good the last few years.

Hello @lauramay7 , thank you for reporting! The issue with the syntax has been corrected in Bento 2.5 – could you please tell me the exact steps for reproducing the issue you’ve described in the initial post?

P.S. your website seems to be using a caching/minifying plugin – just in case, have you cleared the cache(s)?

….I am an idiot. I’ve just set up a staging site at https://www.staging14.imimediation.org/, have cleared the cache, and can see that both /login and /register are displaying correctly. So I think this is resolved? Caching will be the end of me, I swear.

Okay I feel like I’m going crazy. I tested on the staging site, and all seemed well; I then pushed the staging site to live, and the forms are no longer there. I can’t understand what’s going on; and yes, I cleared the cache. https://www.imimediation.org/login (compare to https://www.staging14.imimediation.org/login) and /register, plus other pages with login (etc) forms.

UPDATE: When I changed the site address to imimediation.org/, i.e. without the https://www., the forms reappear. I have no idea what I’m doing, but I’m baffled as heck.

I can see the forms on both the staging and the live versions – could it still be connected to caching? I’d really recommend flushing all plugin caches, as well as your browser cache, and deactivating the caching plugins until the development is over – otherwise weird artifacts and errors can persist longer than one would want them to ??

In the end, as there were no problems on imimediation.org (as opposed to https://www.imimediation.org), I just changed the web address–so yes, everything would have been displaying correctly in the version you saw. What a kerfuffle!
