I’ve checked the database and the email address is in the user table.
The username and email is not being recognized.

I confirmed I am in the correct database.

I confirmed the table prefix is correct based on the wp-config settings.

I have reset the password IN the database and I still cannot get logged into the website.

Also – I checked the options and both siteurl and home are the same.

    Help please

  • Have you also tried Forgot password?

If you change the password in the database: have you saved it as MD5?

Deactivate all plugins as a test. If you don’t have access to the backend, you can also rename the directory /wp-content/plugins/ via FTP to achieve this.

I’ve tried to reset the password.
In the database I saved the password with encrypted with MD5

If I rename the plugin folder it will deactivated all of the plugins. assuming it it a plugin causing the issue that should allow me to get into the website.

If not a plugin conflict, then what is left a theme conflict?

Yes, a theme problem would also be possible. It could also be a problem with your browser – maybe try a different browser, maybe in private mode so that no add-ons are active.

I had the same problem yesterday.

I first tried the ‘forgot password’ but failed due to the PHP mailing system. I also tried to change my password in my database, but it also failed. I then tried other methods on https://www.ads-software.com/documentation/article/reset-your-password/ the emergency.php password reset, see https://gist.github.com/eduardopintor/95aa3b911905ce9508e2384c2508c431. Unfortunately, all the methods listed failed, so I had to reinstall WordPress on my server. Good thing I had a backup from my old site!

You should try the emergency.php to see if it works.

Come to find out the website was hosted elsewhere and the account holder was not aware.

Nice if you were able to solve it. Checking the DNS resolution of the domain should also be part of the solution in such cases ?? You are welcome to set the topic to solved.
