• Hey all, my wordpress is running, at least my host swears it is, going to the admin page and putting in user name and password fails, but sometimes clicking cancel, and it goes to what I’m guessing is indeed the admin page. I’m on a windows IIS setup that’s not very good generally because of their no permissions issues.
Really can’t be more specific, what should I do or check next? What is the url of the admin page, is there only one admin for the master account admin?
    Stupid basic stuff, sorry.

  • Your admin page should be…

    yoursite.com/your-blog-url/wp-admin

And no, WordPress shouldn’t allow you to see the admin area if you cancel the login :).

I get a login popup box that says:
Enter user name and password for “” at http:mydomainname.com
Is this normal or should the “” show the word admin between them?

Normally you’d get something that looks like

    https://jaredquinn.info/wp-login.php

    IF I go to mydomain.com/wordpress/wp-login.php
Then it rejects that and goes to an unstyled page, asking for the login info, but not the browser’s popup box type of form that I get in either browser going to:
    yoursite.com/your-blog-url/wp-admin

    Go here:
    https://goproshop.com/wordpress/wp-admin/

It shouldn’t do that then, the popup sign in form?

    What is:
“HTTP Error 401.3 – Unauthorized: Access is denied due to an ACL set on the requested resource.
    Internet Information Services (IIS)”

Probably more crap I can’t live with at my current host I’m guessing? Just a hunch.

Get a real hosting package on a non-Win server. That’s the best advise I can give you. Yours is bad even for Windows…

Right sorry to mention IIS… I feel the love already then…lol.
