Login name and pass problem

  • Haven’t created a new wordpress site for two years, so I got a shock when after wordpress was installed by my IP, it had automatically given me a wordpress user name which is the name of the page plus some letters. How can I change this R2-D2 name?

    And that’s why you don’t use one click installers or let your host install WP for you. ??

    You can change the name of that user via phpMyAdmin — look in the wp_users table and change it to what you like. However, it’s probably better to login with that ID, create a NEW admin user the way you want it, then logout, login as the new user, and then delete the original user. When you delete that user, it will ask you what to do with content owned by that user. Transfer it to your new ID.
