Login not working on front page

    Hello!
    I got this weird issue that the stock login form widget does not seem to work. I have it as a widget in the left col. on front page.
    When I press the login link and enter credentials on the new login page, I get returned to the front page and the widget keeps saying “login”. Should it say “logout”?
    Seems as if the login function is not working somehow.

    I run:
    WP 6.3.1
    Twenty Eleven theme
    No cache function installed or activated.

    Thanks in advance for any help solving this!
    P.S. I am a wp rookie. Please talk slowly as to a child ??

    Solved!
    Appears as if i had set up the menu link to the front page the wrong way using a static custom url instead of using the pre-defined “home” option in the menu builder.
    After adressing this the login works as expected on front page.

    Posting this so hopefully it can help others getting into the same trouble.
