• I am using www.ads-software.com and noticed problems with my site last week. I have been trying to fix the issues and it works for a while and then i have problems again. The big problem at first was not being able to log in to the dashboard and it just kept redirecting to my home page instead of /wp-login.php

I did manage to get in by tricking the site by deactivating plugins in the cpanel and then getting the log in page up. But now that doesn’t even work. I have updated all themes and plugins, i have disabled most of the plugins that i had running and still not working. I did not make any changes to software before the problems it just worked one day and not the next.

I can no longer access the admin page and therefore i cannot try to fix the site. I have read many responses to this same type of issue before but the listed fixes are not working.
    my site is https://www.ktaustralia.com
I am not a coding expert.

Advice or suggestions would be much appreciated.

  • Just to clarify, the problem persists when all plugins and custom themes are deactivated? You did say you’d disabled “most” so I just wanted to check you’ve tried it with all of them deactivated.

Hi Shellbot, i went in to cpanel and changed the name of the plugins file to try and get the login page to work. so i guess this was what i would say is disabling all of them! Did not deactivate the themes though.
As a newbie at this i need direction and advice so i don’t do anything wrong!

Ok, I’m not sure which fixes you’ve found and tried yourself but let’s work through the list starting with these two. Hopefully one of these will crack the problem.

    1) In your cPanel file browser, navigate to the root folder of your site and find the .htaccess file. Make a backup of that file, and then delete all contents leaving it totally empty. Save the blank file and try accessing the login page again.

    2) If that doesn’t work, we need to get your remaining plugins deactivated (there are PHP errors on the site that show there are still some of them active). There are two ways to do this covered in this blog post. It helps a lot in debugging if we can rule out a plugin problem.

Hi Shellbot, i did what you said in 1 and it worked. I also have my site host working from there end as i have problems with two seperate sites on the same host, the problems are slightly different. I will wait now to see what happens but i do appreciate your taking the time to help me out!

No problem at all. If there is an issue with your .htaccess files on multiple sites your host will hopefully be able to tell you what caused it. Good luck!
