login problems with reauth=1

    wp 3.1.2 multisite install experiencing probs:

    I noticed a lot of users requesting a change of their password and incidentally realized that the first login never works. you are alwayws redirected to mydomain.com/wp-login.php?redirect_to=https://mydomain.com/wp-admin/profile.php&reauth=1
    the second login always works flawless. users are confused and keep requesting a password change ??

    since i don’t know when exactly the problem started I can only guess my last activities on the site:

    – recent activity: added two plugins to always show admin bar and add certain items to it. since it now also has a login form, I disabled both, no change.
    – haven’t touched any of the salts and security keys as this site is integrated with a bbpress isntallation and I would need to change them in a lot of locations…
    – disabling all plugins isn’t an option as it is a live site.
    – introduced quick cache but disabling that one and deleting cache doesn’t help either

    will think about other recent changes, what should I look for specifically I mean what could trigger something like this?

    I have no idea when this started happening and what it might be related to. googling brings tons of results, anyone got a hint for me?

    p.s. I tried deleting local temp files, cookies, different browsers and different computers, still problem persisting ??

    didn’t mention it as its a WPMUDEV premium one called “multi domain” plugin. its not even the whole plugin causing me this trouble just one option: if I enable cross domain logging in this problem appears. have disabled it for now and waiting for feedback on the wpmudev forum.

    The only reason I asked is because if someone else has the same problem, we’ll be able to find this thread on a search and help them ?? (and that’s why I always ask people WHICH multi domain plugin, and please to link to it, since I can’t be stuffed to remember which plugin is which anymore).

    sure, no problem: https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/multi-domains

    but it is multi domains, not domain mapping. haven’t heard of another one yet. anyway, since there might be several I don’t know about, here we go ??
