Login redirection – reloading login page

    I tried logging into my site and it redirected or “reloaded” the login page with the URL being: https://www.MYURL.com/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fhttps://www.MYURL.com%2Fwp-admin%2F&reauth=1

    After doing some research, I found that clearing the cache/cookies, reverting to default theme, disabling plugins (via FTP), deleting .htaccess AND updating site URL worked for a lot of people, NONE of these “solutions” worked for me.

    Is there anyone out there who has solved this login redirect after none of these fixes worked for them?

    Please help! Thank you!

    Do you have any plugin enabled that handles redirections?

    There could be various causes. Try the solutions one by one as mentioned in the following WordPress documentation.

    I did intact have a redirection plugin installed. I disabled it by changing the folder name via FTP and that worked! I was able to log in, I disabled the plugin and deleted it.

    HOWEVER.

    It happened again today. I wasn’t prompted to update any plugins and I haven’ done anything different. Any ideas?

    Could this happen as a result of my host doing maintenance on the servers?

    I don’t think the maintenance has to do with this. Maybe the redirections were set on DB instead. Do you happen to have any other plugin that might have redirections enabled?

    U may wanna check the database table Option and see if the site and homeurl is pointing to the correct base url.

    I changed mine and my problem is resolved.

    The strange thing is that it comes and goes. Somedays I can login without any problems, other days I can’t. I’ve checked the database tables to make sure the base URLs are all pointing to the same address.

    I just checked my database and it says:
    Disk Space Used: 334.51 of 300 MB

    Could this be the reason that I am unable to login?

    Seems like this was the problem – the database had no more space available and that was causing all sorts of problems.

    I highly suggest this note be added to possible troubleshooting solutions – this may be obvious to some, but for people who are not technically inclined, it may be an oversight.
