I have about ten WP sites that I am hosting on 1and1.com. In the last hour or so, suddenly I am unable to access the dashboards for any of them. Going to /wp-admin will give me a blank page and wp-login gives me an error/redirect. In both cases it redirects me to localhost 127.0.0.1. I have called my host and they say they are not doing any blocking of wp-login or wp-admin. I have tried checking the wp-options in myPHPadmin to make sure the error wasn’t there, and it isn’t. I have tried renaming the plugins folder in a couple different websites to disable all of them and see if a plugin was causing the problem (even though all of them were working just fine not two hours ago, and haven’t been updated since). That had no effect.

I did install MAMP yesterday and installed WP in it, but have since uninstalled it thinking that maybe this somehow had something to do with the problem. That also had no effect. I should add I did not even develop any of these sites locally and have not had this problem before… some of them have been up for years.

  • I confirmed the same problem with 1and1.com. They won’t say what caused the problem, but said they would email me when it was fixed.

We are also having the same issue and are hosting with 1and1.com.

    Thank you forum.

Acknowledgment from their german status-page “St?rungsmeldung”, too:

Wir haben derzeit eine technische St?rung die weniger als 0,5% der 1&1 Kunden betrifft. Die betroffenen Kunden k?nnen sich nicht in den WordPress Admin- Bereich einw?hlen.

Have seen same issue over past few hours with a client site. Found explanation via this thread rather than 1&1 support, but opened a ticket there anyway.

Anyone have a workaround in the meantime?

Hey Guys. I am also having the same issue with 1&1. I have raised a ticket with tech support too. This is really bad I was hoping to get some work done.

Here’s the UK fault page https://status.1and1.co.uk/#Fault report

Less than 0.5% of users experiencing the problem they say. How unlucky are we lol

I do love hosting providers stats its the same as 99.9% uptime, yet i look at some of my sites that have 99.7% uptime but i dont get a refund……

there seems a lot of people that are the 0.5% im installing wordpress for a US client and getting the same from 1and1.com so wouldn’t believe its a UK only problem!

Did tell the client not to go with 1 and 1 they never listen they just look at the 1.99 a month….

Sigh. Just found out that this has happened to my wordpress sites on 1&1 too.

I usually have few problems with 1&1 and have used them for 10 years, but this is a first; making changes without warning their clients.

    Not good.

I am in the U.S. also, so it is a happening here in the U.S. I appreciate the earlier suggestion not to go to 1and1, but the reason we are there is after a horrible experience at other service providers – one went out of business and the other was one of the big ones. Not sure who is better…

I have the same problem with six WordPress sites. I reported it about four hours ago, I’m in the queue to be fixed but nobody could tell me how long it would take or what caused the problem. I’m in the UK and will check again first thing in the morning and get on to them if it’s not fixed.

Yup I’m out to, has only happened in the last half an hour though ??

Same is happening in Canada. I’ve just gotten off the phone and the person I’ve talked to didn’t know what’s going on or how long it’ll take.

Sorry guys there’s nothing we can do to support you if this issue is regarding the 1&1 hosting providers.

    https://status.1and1.com/#Incident

“We’re experiencing an issue affecting less than 0.5% of the 1&1 customer base.
The affected users are unable to access their WordPress Admin-Login.”

I have the same Problem, but interesting enough, I can admin my Blogs via Windows Phone App – which is no solution, but I don’t understand why this os possible????
