• I had my site up and active as recently as the other day. Then I updated some of the plugins, and now the site is gone. My login page doesn’t load. When I login through the main page, the site doesn’t show up. I am freaking out….

I can’t even log in and see that the site exists!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hey! Did you get any email on the address that you used when you installed WordPress? This looks like one of the situations when an email is sent notifying you about the error and allowing via a link to enter a “safe mode” (plugins disabled) of your website.

Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

No, you don’t understand. I cannot even login. Or…when I do login it doesn’t even show my site anymore. I genuinely have no idea what is going on…and I am not an idiot…

Did you get chance to read my reply?

Please read it again — You don’t need to login to dashboard to attempt troubleshooting I suggested in my previous reply ??

I’ll be honest. I think that’s a little above my paygrade (expertise).

I have already reached out to my web designer. But he is overseas, so it will take a little while to hear from him. Thanks.

This is what I see when viewing your URL:
This page isn’t working scooperfest.com is currently unable to handle this request.
    HTTP ERROR 500

In reference to that, this may be helpful:

Do you have access to your GoDaddy hosting account? (If not, then get it for future reference.) They may be able to help you if you don’t have the technical skills. Most of their hosting plans have automatic backups and you should be able to get them to rollback to an old version that did work.

Celebrate with a scoop, when you’re back up again!
