• I haven’t tried to login for a while, but I can’t seem to make it work. I tried my username and Password that I have on file, but it says incorrect. I then tried to click the “Forgot Password” link. I put in my email once and username once. I never got an email to update my password. Though my email hasn’t changed. I am not advanced enough to know how to login any other way. I didn’t create the site…I just login every couple years to update a few words! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Hi,

Maybe your server has mail function disabled. Ask your hosting provider to check if this is the problem and ask them to enable it.

I’m sorry, but I’m not exactly clear. My email works completely normal…I just didn’t get an email from WordPress to reset my password. Is this some special function?

    Hello @nwilson2

If your username or email is correct then you should get the reset email in your inbox that might be spam or junk. Please click on More and All mail and might you find it out.

Or it might be possible that your site SSL expired and email functionality does not work and you are unable to get a reset password link.

If you have database access then you can check your username or email and reset the password there as well.

Or you can contact your hosting provider to check that the email system is working fine or not and you can also renew the SSL.

If you want to check the user and email in the database then go to the wp_users table and click on the Show data link to check the list of users registered on your site.

Click here to review the screenshot.

    Hope this helps.

    Best,
    Hitendra

How do I access the wp_users table?

I meant that maybe your server (the one that is hosting your website) has mailing disabled. You can recieve mails from other people but your website can′t send emails, so it can′t send you your change password link.

    Ask your hosting provider.

This article lists several completely different ways to reset your password. Any one of them will work and do the job. Find the one that’s right for you and use that: https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/resetting-your-password/

Thank you for your help…I have read that link. I don’t know how to do any of those options besides the automatic emailer. I was hoping to find help or guidance for a complete rookie to do one of the other ways.

Use the phpmyadmin method to reset your password.

    How do I access phpMyAdmin?

I usually edit the website through a website link…it’s just a wp_login at the end of our website address.

phpmyadmin is part of your hosting package. Ask your host. https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/resetting-your-password/

Hi, you can follow the FTP part too. It’s also an easy step to reset the password.

    Through FTP
