    Hello again!

We continue to have these recurring problems:

    1) When logins are attempted from the PG Login Widget, the “Failed security check” error message repeatedly appears. I deactivated the security plugin’s settings — just to check — and the problem persists.

However, access to the site is granted via the Login/Logout (Menu Extension). Please help! The widget looks so nice and is very convenient.

    2) I did see a support ticket concerning a similar problem, but we want the site’s settings to take users to their profile page after login as desired. The problem we have now is that when we click on a user profile from the All-Groups and Members pages, we are redirected back to our Admin profiles. We could not find a reason for this behavior to try to troubleshoot it.

    All ideas are welcome!

Thank you so much again! We really appreciate you!

    UPDATE 12/20:

We changed both the forms plugin (annoying now-show issues were happening with Ninja Forms) and the security plugin BUT:

    1. The PG Login Widget still yields the “Failed security check” error message when we attempted to login AND we can access the site via the Login option in the menu; and
    2. Now we are unable to access any groups from the all-groups page (shortcode: [profilegrid_groups]). https://bit.ly/3hA8FeB

We have run out of ideas of where to look to see why every time we try to solve an issue, another issue arises that did not exist before — we can’t even begin to understand how these new issues are related when PG changes are not being made at all.

    Thank you again so much.

Thanks for writing to us about this issue. We did some initial investigation and think it might be related to your site’s specific environment. In order to help us with further analysis, could you please let us know:

1- What PHP version you are using?

2- What ProfileGrid core and extensions versions you are using?

Also, have you started receiving this problem of late (after an update perhaps?), or did it never work for you.

We will be waiting for your response.

    Hello, you wonderful people!

We found what appears to be THE LOGIN ISSUE:

    1. All In One Security plugin did not completely uninstall – it left behind a file called aios-bootstrap.php (which was discovered by Wordfence Security plugin) and continued creating issues. We deleted this file via FTP.
    2. We uninstalled W3 Total Cache and also had to delete W3 Total Cache leftover files via FTP. We replaced it with Lite Speed Cache which does not cause issues with this site.
    3. We installed a working backup of a test site using All In One Migration plugin (best investment we’ve made in years!) and now, things seem to be working as they should.

Now, we are able to login from the widget and from the menu!

We considered that there may have been a theme conflict but did not want to go through changing what we have customized to the clients very specific desires.

Please NOTE that we regularly cleared broswer caches as well as the site’s caches. We also searched for as much info as we could in this forum and online and did find that issues with cache and security plugins appear to be culprits of many things.

Should this happen to anyone else in the future, we advise that you:

    • check for leftover files from uninstalled plugins and delete them via FTP — particularly cache and security plugins.
    • Also check your .htaccess to clear away leftover “crap codes.”

We also found the issue with page redirects from the “all-groups” page with the [profilegrid_users] shortcode when we clicked on the link for “all-groups/?gid=1” and were looped back to the all-groups page. None of us noticed that we had the wrong shortcode inserted on the page. Doh!

Again, we thank you so very much for your generosity and for this wonderful plugin.

Much success to you and yours!

    Hello, again,

We’re still having this problem after completely removing All In One Security plugin; clearing leftover “crap codes,” pages, etc. from the site and the database; and cleaning up the .htaccess file.

We’ve exhausted ourselves disabling plugins to find any conflicts and are still having this “Failed security check” error message every time we attempt to login using the widget.

We even started over with a fresh WordPress install – https://bit.ly/3hA8FeB.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you so much.

I have exactly the same problem.

    Hello, again,

Thank you for getting back to us on this issue.

We always update the plugin (and keep it updated) and then within a few hours, the problem returns.

All we can think of is that there may be some kind of plugin conflict, but it is becoming too time consuming to continue trying to find out what the problem is. We will give it a few more attempts and keep you updated.

    Thank you again!

    UPDATE 2/23/23

After updating ProfileGrid (and all of its other related plugins that are installed on the site), the problem remained and did not permit logging in via the widget at all.

Logins on the front end can only occur from the “/login/” page.

We contacted ProfileGrid Technical Support per your instructions.

Thank you so much for your assistance!

First, thank you to Metagauss Support for their diligent attempts to duplicate this problem without success.

This plugin is wonderful for so many people, but not for us with this client and their website needs. Unfortunately, we have to uninstall ProfileGrid and all of its companion plugins and choose a different membership management plugin because too much time has passed without a successful resolution to this non-stop, persistent problem.

We cannot say how wonderful the Metagauss team has been and we wish them tremendous, continued success. Their consideration for users of this plugin is beyond excellent and that kind of dedication deserves the best Karma ever!

    All the best.
