Login works on Dashboard, not Website

  • Freshly installed newest version of WP last night, fully hosted. Was not having an issue earlier, but now I’m having the following problem:

    – Go to site
    – Click “Log In” in meta links in sidebar
    – Log in and go to Dashboard
    – Go back to site, but am NOT logged in

    It still gives me the “Log In” prompt, not “Log Out” and “Site Admin”, and when going into comments it prompts me to give my info.

    I have a separate WP.com account, which I connected to my blog via Jetpack. Wasn’t having an issue last night, or today at work (where I had to use IE10), but having issue here at home tonight with both Firefox 22.0 and Chrome 27.0. I’ve cleared cookies, deleted passwords, nothing has fixed the issue.

    Suggestions are appreciated!

    UPDATE:

    Back at work today, and I am staying logged in just fine on both the Dashboard and main site again on IE10.

    Last night I also tried it from a different machine (in Chrome), but had the same problem.

    UPDATE 2:

    At home again tonight, I tried it on IE 10, and it worked correctly. So clearly the issue has to do with something browser-related. I would suspect cookies (as I’ve never used IE to view the site before now), but as said in the OP, I had cleared out cookies before. Will try another clear out again before crying.

    ETA: Nope, no luck. Commencing crying.

    PLEASE if you have any ideas, I’d appreciate them!

    Try resetting your modem and router.

    Try flushing the DNS on your computer – https://www.whatsmydns.net/flush-dns.html

    Thank you! Alas, I tried both and added another cookie deletion, but still not working. What really gets me is how it works in IE just fine.

    Hi Katie, do you have a “WP Super Cache” on? You might want to try switching it off, then trying on Chrome.

    Nope, I don’t have that plugin. Thanks for the suggestion, though!
