Logo Appears Pixelated/Unsmooth

    I am having an issue with my logo appearing pixelated on my WordPress site:

    When I view the image in irfanview, photoshop, illustrator or pretty much any other application the logo looks smooth. However, once I upload it to my website it doesn’t look smooth anymore.

    Initially we started with a 2000px x 2000px image on the site, and had the theme downsize the logo down to the 170px x 170px. That didn’t work, so we saved the file from the original illustrator file at the proper dimensions and that is what is on the website now. Both approaches resulted in the unsmooth pixelated image.

    For the life of me I can’t figure out what the problem is, but I think it’s something happening on the server or from wordpress.

    Any help is much appreciated.
