Hello, I have an issue similar to this one that the logo I set in Site Identity doesn’t show up. Using the Pique theme with static front page and anchor menu.
I am able to select an image file as logo from the media library, but once I publish it or even when I refresh the preview, it disappears. It still displays the file in the Customization > Site Identity section, but not on the website. There is a slightly larger space above the menu, which makes me think that it’s still there but just doesn’t show the image. I tried with different images but to no avail.
Also changed the home page to a new empty page, in which case I could set the logo again, and it showed up in the preview again but disappeared again upon publishing.
Any help how to fix this much appreciated.

(On a side note, while previewing, i.e., before publishing, I also still experience the bug that has been reported here, that the logo changes size … in my case it flickers and becomes super small. So clearly something else wrong with the logo as well.)

  • Since it does work with Jetpack, can you ensure that’s activated and connected?

And, did you disable any Jetpack settings?

OK, so I installed Jetpack and it is activated.
I didn’t enable/disable any settings in Jetpack though, am I supposed to?
And what do you mean by “connected”? I’m just using the free version so haven’t purchased a plan.

That’s okay, you don’t have to have a paid plan. You can make sure Jetpack is connected here:
    /wp-admin/admin.php?page=jetpack

The logo does need that much.

But the other settings from there _shouldn’t_ be an issue unless there’s a conflict with other plugins. I just tested with all modules disabled, and only a connection, and that worked out alright.

Is there any chance your host is caching an older version of the page? Normally a caching plugin would show up as such…

Hmm, ok, so when I go to
    /wp-admin/admin.php?page=jetpack
and enter my credentials, then nothing happens.

In the Jetpack settings page there are a number of “Connect your WordPress.com account” links, is that what you mean?

    (@jandavidhauck)

I have now completely uninstalled Jetpack and reinstalled it,
and then I’ve also created and connected a wordpress.com account.

    Alas, same issue …

I’m really lost with what’s wrong / what else to try … ??

In the Jetpack settings page there are a number of “Connect your WordPress.com account” links, is that what you mean?

Yes – you’ll need to have that connection made. Can you confirm that’s done?

Also, would you please link to the image you’re using for the logo so we can test that?

    On my setup:

    – Jetpack is activated
    – Jetpack is connected to a free account
    – These modules are active: /wp-admin/admin.php?page=jetpack_modules&module_tag=Photos%20and%20Videos
    – I’m ensuring I publish my changes to Customizer

Can you confirm you’re doing the same?

    Hi again,

First of all, thank you so much for taking the time to help me here. I very much appreciate it!

OK, so I can confirm all of what you wrote.
I made a screen recording of me trying to add the logo and the logo then disappearing.
    You can see it here:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/r2nabhl1ullylrg/LogoNotDisplaying.mov?dl=0
I also recorded the screen with all the jetpack settings.

Also here is a link to the logo file.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/gtgusinfb27vd6v/janwebsitelogowhite.png?dl=0
Although I’ve also tried with a number of other files from my media library and none worked, so I doubt it’s the file.

    Hi there,

Does the issue persist if the site accelerator in Jetpack is disabled in Jetpack > Settings > Performance > Performance & speed?

    https://jetpack.com/support/site-accelerator/

    Thread Starter Jan

    (@jandavidhauck)

I disabled the site accelerator and tried again, unfortunately it still persists. ??

    Thanks.

    Just to clarify:

Did you try re-adding the header image when the site accelerator has been disabled and all other plugins except Jetpack are disabled (including Ninja Firewall)?

    Thread Starter Jan

    (@jandavidhauck)

    Finally!!!! I found the culprit.

I have now deactivated every singl plugin except Jetpack … and it finally resolved it! Logo is now displaying …

So I then tested them one by one, reactivating them. The plugin that caused it was the Gutenberg plugin (Version 10.6.2)!
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/gutenberg/
When I activate it and reload the page, the logo disappears.
I guess the Gutenberg plugin is no longer needed as it is the default editor now?
I thought I needed it to have the block editor, but I guess I’m mistaken …

Could you clarify for me what that Gutenberg plugin is supposed to do?

But either way, glad I resolved it!

BTW, should I report this somewhere to either the Gutenberg developers or to the Jetpack developers?

Glad you found the culprit. When in doubt, disable plugins ??

Could you clarify for me what that Gutenberg plugin is supposed to do?

It allows users to test new features for the block editor that aren’t quite ready to be added to WordPress core yet because they might be buggy or need refinement. Your site doesn’t really need to use it.

@supernovia: I can replicate the issue on a local install when the Gutenberg plugin is enabled.

(forgot to mark this issue as resolved – thanks again everyone)
