• Logout does not clear cookies in Chrome or Firefox. If I try to login again I am told request failed for any valid credentials – I have to clear cookies to login at all (in Firefox or chrome, Edge seems fine).

using en.bell-computing.com it now works fine. But reactivating M2 on cle-france.bell-computing.com still manifests the issue. Still… with all other plugins inactive and using twentysixteen. Still can only login once, second attempt, request fails with the ajax error. They are both on the same host.

What is more now, even the first log in does not accept that the member has rights to the page. If I remove all protection from the home page it shows, add the membership of the member and it doesn’t work.

It looks like M2 is a bit too buggy for my usage, you clearly are unable to fix my problem and I have now spent way too long on this, I will try s2 and let you know if it works.

Hope you are still working on this issue?! Cause i have exactly the same!

Here are the failure-messages in chrome:

    jquery.js,qver=1.12.4.pagespeed.jm.pPCPAKkkss.js:1 POST http:/www.mydomain.com/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?ms_ajax=1 401 (Unauthorized)

    and Edge:

HTTP403: FORBIDDEN - The server understood the request, but is refusing to fulfill it.
    (XHR)POST - https://www.mydomain.com/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?ms_ajax=1

    Hey @nixxxon23,

    Hope you’re well.

This is an old thread so I don’t think there is any more update on it. I tried the login/logout with membership account and successfully I can logout/login. So can you tell me is there any specific step you made? Also, did you try plugin conflict and theme conflict test? You just need to deactivate all plugins except membership and if it does not solve also try activating default Twenty Seventeen theme.

    And can you create a new thread for your problem? According to www.ads-software.com forum guides you should open a new topic even if the issue looks same;

Unless users have the exact same version of WordPress on the same physical server hosted by the same hosts with the same plugins, theme, and configurations, then the odds are the solution for one user will not be the same for another. For this reason, we recommend people start their own topics.

And we will gladly investigate this further for you.

    Cheers,
    Oguz

This was a problem I never resolved but I think it was my multisite environment. I tried all the above and no luck but it was not the only plugin that had this same issue. I am currently working on a brand new vpn single site but I am not using this plugin because in order to have itegrated paypal I would need the pro version and since the site is a nonprofit I am obligated to keep ongoing costs as low as possible at least until the benefits of licensing are well established.

I just stumbled across this topic yesterday, sorry for hijacking ??

I think i will first have a closer look at the issue before i post my own topic. I really don’t know where the problem comes from and when it appears (yet). I still think it’s related to cookies but i can’t reproduce it at the moment.

As said if I find out where it comes from i will open my own thread for the problem.

    Thank’s for you quick response(s).

    Best regards from Vienna,
    Niko

I had it happen on other login plugins too, reduced it but it is still a frequent issue for me. I blamed my multisite network. And testing on a single site on a new droplet/server it all seems to work ok. Am now merging the public and the member site and migrating to the new setup. Fingers crossed.

Well I don’t have a multisite setup for this project but still got this (unreproduceable) error.
Yesterday night I replaced the membership2 login with the plugin “Login With Ajax” so far it works good but I kinda have the feeling that didn’t solve the actual problem.

But I also cross the fingers that your new setup will solve the problem for you!

I replaced it with Force Login and some other tweaks to handle the multisite issue. But it still does some odd things like twitching when I login and refreshing the screen with no message as to why it didn’t log in. Clearing cookies sometimes works, closing and restarting the borwser sometimes needed too.
