    Hi,

So a guy I hired can’t login over & over, he keeps getting this error & on our end we can’t see any blocks.

    Not happy about this.

My website coder said…. ” I turned on extra logging, and I can see him accessing the login pages, but it never shows him getting blocked, which doesn’t make sense to me either”

    Hi @ep2012,

Thanks for reaching out to us, and for sending the helpful recording!

It sounds like this could be related to rate-limiting, as 503 errors tend to occur when the site is receiving multiple requests in quick succession: https://www.wordfence.com/help/firewall/rate-limiting/

When you check Wordfence > All options > Rate-limiting do any of your options show this warning? Very strict. May cause false positives

If so, the rule may need relaxing, so that legitimate visitors aren’t blocked if they’re clicking through your site quickly.

Let me know if that solves the issue.

    Thanks,
    Tiffany

    Hi Tiffany,

Thanks for getting back to us.

My website coder is asleep now so I can’t do any of this, but what about the fact that this guy’s IP was nowhere in the blocked area?

What does that have to do with the rule or the multiple clicking?

    Thanks

Ok, Chris just took a look, & it was still set to default unlimited, so that’s not the problem.

The freelancer was finally able to login, but only due to the unblock reset which he claims (I’m not sure if he’s lying) didn’t work the first time.

But the 2 main issues were what I mentioned above.

    Back to you.

    Thanks

    Hi @ep2012,

    Thanks for the update!

A list of IPs blocked will be displayed in the Wordfence > Firewall > Blocking page for the time you set in Firewall > All Firewall Options > Rate Limiting > How long is an IP address blocked when it breaks a rule. Could you have your coder take a look at the time that’s currently selected for that option? It might need to be extended so that it shows in the list of current IPs blocked.

Let me know how that goes!

    Thanks,
    Tiffany
