• It’s been nearly 2 years since you guys forced this on us, and I can’t believe that with a consistent track record of nothing but one star reviews, you clowns have yet to remove this from the WordPress core.

At this point you’re just being too stubborn to admit a failure. If you want to actually create something that people will keep installed, try modelling something after something that people actually like, instead of trying to bully people into liking the new kid on the block, when the new kid is just a degenerate.

  • 100% agreed. Seems like WordPress development is ran by arrogant teenagers nowdays…

Those “arrogant teenagers” are volunteers that produce free software that you can use on your sites and also profit from it. Yeah, curse the lot of ’em…

That software, by the way, is licensed under the GPL v2. I suggest reading it, particularly sections 11 and 12 to have a better understanding of the free software you are using.

    *Anywho*…

I don’t think there is such thing as “removing this from WordPress core” anymore, that ship sailed long ago; the future of WordPress is nothing but blocks. And as for the 1-star ratings… 2k+ 1-star ratings and 55M downloads just for WordPress 5.5 alone…there is no comparison. However, anti-Gutenberg reviewers should really understand that there is no coming back to WordPress pre-Gutenberg. It is just not possible anymore.

This is main of reason why i am still using 3rd party editor such as elementor.

Lol “55 million downloads…there is no comparison.” Get real.

As if that number isn’t inflated by the fact that it is force-downloaded on new installs. The download count remains on a plugin, even after it has been uninstalled.

Instead, focus on the fact that there are only 200k ACTIVE installs of Gutenburg, and well over 5million ACTIVE installs of the classic editor plugin…don’t think that only 2000 reviews here represents ALL of the negative feedback that Gutenburg has received since the beginning. It’s only a fraction of it.

Don’t get me wrong…WordPress Core is managed by volunteers…but volunteer or not, you don’t ignore the actual feedback from a userbase as large as WordPress’s and just say “screw you guys, we’re doing what we want.” When people are still saying “this was a horrible update” 2 YEARS LATER, it isn’t just people not willing to “get up with the times”, it is “you made a horrible update.”

The only part I can really agree with you on is ye I guess it’s probably too late for it to be removed. With the portion of the userbase who’ve actually converted to the P.O.S., it’d break all their sites to backtrack now.

Not true. The Gutenberg plugin is not included on regular installs. The plug exists to add/test new features before they get rolled into core.

A better metric is to look at the number of WP 5.x downloads and subtract the number of active users of the classic editor plugin.

Okay, I can understand and roll with that. Apologies for the incorrect metrics, and thanks for the correction.

That actually puts good bit of that into a different perspective then.

Not sure how many active installs there are of Classic editor, exactly, since it stops at the 5,000,000+ mark. It’s been at that mark for quite a while…even though it has nearly 24 million *downloads*, not sure if -all- of those are still active.

@orlando LOL, 55 Million..!! No real facts, just sharing made up numbers. Way to go dude… how about mentioning reviews ratio, and what about negative reviews which got removed in the name of Fake Reviews.?! By your logic, Classic Editor has 1000M+ downloads and still counting..
I suggest you should read how good volunteer development works. How many times you people going to abuse “Volunteer” word in the name of development. I have seen 10000% better support and development than this piece of garbage plugin and guess what, they are volunteers too. As for GutenCrap support, just look at the reviews i would say.
It feels like so called wordpress devs got bored and decided to create a horrible product which no one ever asked for.
Now you might going to say leave wordpress ( cause that’s the only thing left which you can use against a WP user), well i have left but clients always instead of using WP (Obviously, the first thing i do is Disable GutenCrap and install classic editor) so that is why unfortunately i have to stick around.
As for future of wordpress, i would say DEAD (but thanks to Elementor and other builders, people still using wordpress)..
