Long file names

  • I use Rss2Blog to post news to my WP blog. I’m using %postname% in my permalink structure to generate the file names. If the title in the post is very long, then the file name is also very long. I can edit the slug for the post, but that defeats the ‘automatic’ part of my posts. Does anyone know how I can limit the length of the file name in WP but still keep the long titles?

  • This has come up before and I read the threads, but cannot remember the solution (getting old). If you haven’t searched you might come up with the solution I have forgotten. I’ll post back if I come across one of them.

    I remember someone suggesting editing the core file that creates the slug to limit the slug length.

    I was trying to find out if anyone knew which core file to edit. I went through them all, but I couldn’t find anything relating to the slugs.
