Long list of blocked IPs causing site to craash

  • I have several sites with the same issue – there are so many blocked IPs (4000, sometimes 15000 lines) they are causing the internal pages to become inaccessible. Basically a 404 for every page except the home page. Is there a way to limit how many IPs or some way to rotate them? Or which setting needs to be disabled? Unfortunately, it seems like the plugin is doing its job but its choking under heavy load.

    I am sorry to hear you are experiencing this! Can you please remove the first half of the IP’s that are in the ban list and check to see if that resolves the issue?

    This was caused because the file gets cut off and the only fix currently is to limit the number of IP’s in the ban list. We are in the process of finding a new system for this, unfortunately, I do not have a timeline of when that change will be implemented.

    Indeed removing some of the IPs resolves the issue. Unfortunately, they just keep coming back so the only option is to disable the ban list for now. Thanks for the heads up on the upcoming fix. Seems like they need to be stored in the DB somehow. UGH. Probably not an easy fix…
