    Goodmorning,

Since i installed Autoptimize my Javascript is very slow loading on the first load after emptying all my caches. I know it has to be a little slow, because its the first time loading a page, but 13 seconds is too long i think. Is there a way to make it load a little faster on the first load?

    Thanks!

That was your stylesheet missing from your hoster’s cache and hence not loading, but seems all right now.

Conclusion: for some reason (you’re emptying the cache too often?) the PCX-cache is not able to follow, with HTML in the cache referring to JS/ CSS that isn’t in there yet. I guess you should discuss this with the PCExtreme.

Thanks Frank. I indeed did empty the cache multiple times.

Its displayed alright now, but when i empty the cache on my mobile in Chrome, the page still takes 13 seconds to load and to display everything right. Is that still that hosting-issue you just talked about? And what should i ask them?

no, that is not your hoster’s problem. have a look at this test; the problem there is that your homepage is 2MB, which is too much really ??

load less (font-)cruft and install a image-optimization plugin Stijn (e.g. shortpixel, cfr. the “optimize more” tab in AO’s settings-screen.

    Aha i see..thats good to know..thanks!

How do i load less (font)-cruft Frank?

And i have the plugin “WP smush” installed for image optimazation. So thats not good enough, i think? Short pixel is a premium plugin, is there a good free plugin that can help me?

    Wat is cfr?

How do i load less (font)-cruft Frank?

by not loading (all those) google fonts? B-)

but I checked the test results some more, fonts only account for 5% of your page weight, so it’s not _that_ important. images on the other hand are 1.2 MB totaling a whopping 63% (JS is 2nd at 0.5 MB, lots of external JS as well) …

All good ones (afaik) are “freemium”, where you get some free optimizations but you have to pay to get more.

Ill leave the google fonts for now then.

Ok Frank, thanks, and i need more to fix this 1.2 Mb image-issue, right?

How do ik need to fix the JS issue?

Thanks again Frank, you are a great help.

you do. better optimization or less images or even better; both ??

How do ik need to fix the JS issue?

well, less social widgets & stuff, but that would be a choice between your social strategy and your performance which might not be an easy one?

    (@claitonlord)

Ok. But i write articles, so i have to fill those up with some images, readers love an image in between, now and then. So using the pixel plugin for example will help me out right? Is that one better thans WP smudge premium?

Thats definately not an easy one. I will take the middle route, i think. The widgets i have now are neccasary. So i guess using a premium image optimization plugin wil speed up a lot right? Ik take 1.2 MB. How much do i win with a premium plugin?

the only objective answer wrt image optimization is that according to the webpagetest you could gain 351MB by optimization. i can’t guarantee shortpixel (or another random plugin) will be able to squeeze all of that out though ??

you could off course also install one of the lazy load plugins, which delay the loading of all those images until they are needed. might take some AO settings tweaking though (as lazyloading is JS-based).

for the widgets/ social cruft; there might be less performance-impacting alternatives there, maybe worth investigating?

Ok ok i see. Where do you see the 351 MB gain? Is there a total there? Or did you just add up all of the KBs?

But Frank, what exactly would you suggest me to do? Which plugin ect. Things that i, as a amateur, can dop to gain some speed.

Where do you see the 351 MB gain?

click on the link of the webpagetest I added there, it’ll show you specifically what images on your HP can be compressed more, totalling up to 351MB

But Frank, what exactly would you suggest me to do? Which plugin ect. Things that i, as a amateur, can dop to gain some speed.

well, try a lazy-loading plugin maybe? can’t tell you which one, I’m only an expert in autoptimize and I don’t have extensive experience with those myself (I have very few images on my wee little blog myself), so … ??

The only thing i see there is 351 KB, not MB Frank. Or am i looking at the wrong place?

Ok ok i will look for it. Thanks.
