long page a turn off?

Should I keep it a long page as it is, or paginate my write up?

In my opinion I don’t think you need to worry about that. I was checking on the link when the “Name & email” popped up on top of the article.

That’s a huge turn off for me and I didn’t proceed to read the rest of the post.

Yep, getting rid of that abominable pop-up ought to be your number one priority. Gimmicks like that instantly make me hate the person who added them, and I’m 100% certain that many others feel the same way. Put a sign-up form in the sidebar if you must, but don’t assault the reader with that nonsense.

As for your question, I’m one of those people who reflexively looks around for a “View as a single page” link whenever I come up against a paginated article. Long articles are fine. If you must paginate, use an Ajax loading method so that the reader doesn’t have to navigate to a new page to read the next part of the article.

Thanks for the suggestion – I took out the pop-up subscription box. Maybe that will help with the bounce rate.

I think domain name is awesome. The only thing I suggest is providing a little more structure. I would provide a little more information or visual bait on the home page. I think the bounce rate might be high because of the over design of the website.

Like with my Atlanta Roofing Blog [link moderated], I make sure I give a visual display with a rolling banner.

Thanks for all the great feedback. I got rid of the pop up, gave it a new face lift, and put in an image slider in the top fold to hopefully capture visitor retention.

The only thing left to try out is tabbed content using dynamic CSS.
