• I’m not sure where this goes or if it is a problem, but here goes.

I noticed that a theme I built will spread over the text from the main post content to your sidebar. This will only happen if someone uses a long series of letters or any number/character and so on with no white space. The text will spill over into the sidebar or under it and come out through any right sidebar. Not that anyone would need to actually do this, but it could be an issue if anyone did.

I tried to test it with a WordPress classic theme, thinking it was me doing something wrong with my own theme.

To test this, on any theme, simply put up a test post, and use a line of text, a nice long one, that has no white space.

On my WordPress classic the text spills over for certain.

Am I being over cautious looking at things like this?

I just feel its worth bringing up, and wonder if there is a way of stopping this text spill over or a need? Most people will never use more than the length of a long word in a post, but, if they did use 100 or more question marks with no white space, this spill over occurs.

    Any thoughts on this?

    Anyone else ever noticed it?

Yes, it’s a known issue, and no, there’s no good fix for it. The problem is browser specific. In some browsers (Firefox), you can use CSS to force the text to wrap, or hide the overlap. In other browsers (IE), you can’t do nearly as well. There’s really no good solution, so most people ignore it and tell people “don’t do that”.

Thanks Otto, to be honest, I never searched first before posting this, so apologies there.

    Thanks for the answer.
