I tend to write longer texts on my blog, sometimes 5000 words or longer (up to 11000 words), and notice that editing takes a long time because of a long running script. I’m wondering if the transition to javascript for the analysis might be that script I’m waiting on after sometimes every keystroke, when it’s rescanning the text on the page.

Now its not much fun to write on wordpress anymore and I’ve reached the point that I have to wait for every character I type and sometimes the browser can’t even keep up my typing and the only solution seems to be to write outside of WordPress, and really there is no reason for me to have my SEO retested while I am writing the article. It would be sufficient for me to have some sort of button or link to activate the check. In that way I can choose when I have to wait for it to be finished.

For me writing and checking the analysis are basically two separate tasks, so why should my system have to combine them to a real-time continuous scan? In that way it differs from f.i. spelling checking which offers added value by real-time scanning.

My computer has an I7 processor with 8GB Ram, so it’s not that my system is too slow. I work mostly in IE on Windows 10.

My question is: can it be yoast’s script that’s slowing down editing? Have you tested on this aspect editing long articles? And if so, is there a solution except using a different plugin? And if not, have you any suggestions to analyse and solve this problem?

    I’m hoping…

    Kind regards, Hans

  • I just noticed the same problem… if I disable the Yoast SEO plugin typing works fine but with Yoast SEO enabled it sends an AJAX request on every character I type…

How can I disable this? It does not make sense to send the full blog post on every character I type… renders the site pretty much unusable…

Exactly. It’s not only that my edit page slows down to a standstill when I edit the content of the article, but in the yoast-seo part I have to wait after sometimes every character for the page to open up again (which takes a lot of seconds) so I can enter my search focus term.

I have already started to type the summary text for google in a external editor en past it in the snippet because of that and because the snippet-field also seems to loos focus a lot and close down automatically. For me the change to javascript hasn’t worked out.

Sorry Yoast, it’s not really an improvement untill now. Can there at least be a button to start the analysis in stead of it running continually in the background?

Some problem here… Long text the script I have to force the script to stop working. Hope Yoast reads this and find a solution!

Yes, it’s really unworkable slowing down. I am afraid Yoast doesn’t really tend to reactions here, since his own text points to GitHub for bugs and to his premium version for support. The free users seem to be on their own.
