We have not made any changes to this blog except that we are forwarding our domain to it. So our domain originally housed a folder where the blog resided. Then we created a subdomain so the blog folder basically forwards to that. And now we changed our original domain to forward to this subdomain (blog.truyuresources.com). Somehow during this process, now it looks like this. We are using the Gemer theme.

Another issue is we can not log into the admin side. I am wondering if it is because of the forwarding issue, but I have tried several different urls. Originally our login was at domain/foldername/wp-admin. I have tried blog.truyuresources.com/wp-admin, but no luck.

We are in the fowarding stage still today, but tomorrow this thing goes live and it is going to be a mess.

Thanks for any help you can provide. Our host is no help when it comes to WordPress–they don’t provide any support for it.

    Sommer

  • why are you forwarding?
why can’t you install it in the sub domain, a folder or the root?

    or move it?

I’m having this same problem, but can’t view my site or dashboard at all. https://www.thewealthyguitarist.com

i was editing the theme and it got messed up. error message:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘}’ in D:\Hosting\5592636\html\wp-content\themes\9ths-current\functions.php on line 51

upload a fresh copy of the theme’s functions.php file

Because I’m not sure what I’m doing and that’s what the host advised me to do. I will try this. Do I need to upload the fresh functions.php file too? Or was that just for 3dagger?

    Thanks!

Sorry, the more I look at this, I am not sure this helps as we need to forward the blog so that when people go to our website, truyuresources.com, they are actually forwarded to the blog.

Samuel B how do i do that? I can’t even access the dashboard…

    3dagger
use an ftp client or the host’s file manager

    ssharon
but if you move the blog to the root, there is no need for forwarding and these wordpress conflicts with same

Do you think moving it to the root will help with the way the theme is all messed up though? I am not sure how we fix that even if we get it moved. We basically removed all the forwarding and created a redirect. So we’ll see what that does. Moving the blog to the root is the next step. But if it still doesn’t fix the formatting, we still have a serious issue.

Hey I’m really appreciating your help, but this is the first time I’ve tried to edit code, and clearly I have messed up terribly. You may have to pretend you are speaking to a small child, or a monkey.

I downloaded ‘ftp explorer,’ and it’s telling me that my login credentials are incorrect. I entered the information I usually do at the wp-admin page.

I have not tried to host file manager, as I have no idea how to get to that.

    thanks again for your patience.

your ftp credentials will be different than for wordpress
look in the host control panel for this info – or ask host

Do you think moving it to the root will help with the way the theme is all messed up though?

pretty sure – wordpress doesn’t do well with redirects
