Looking for a category filter widget….

    Hi I’m looking for a widget that will do 3 things –

    1) Display a checkbox filter list of a specifiable set of categories
    2) Upon the user selecting one or more checkboxes, it will display in the main page a list of matching posts
    3) The result list to be customisable by a custom template

    I have had no luck so far with finding one – can anybody recommend one? “Taxonomies Filter Widget” looks very good (paid plugin) but I think it will list all categories whereas I want to tell it which ones to display in the filter.
