I am looking for a Mentor to help me with a blog. I met a doctoral student who said that he designed websites/blogs and hosted them for $10 a month. So, I cancelled a website (very rudimentary) with Homestead at $25 a month and had him design a blog for me. After paying $630, I now have a blog that I don’t know how to configure, nor do I have a designer who provides any customer support. He will provide consulting, however, for a healthy fee.

So, I have written posts and created a couple of other pages, but I am just not knowledgable enough to take this thing where I want it to go without some help. They created the site using a child theme of Redux. The site is 401KPreservation.com, and incorporates managing my 401K account along with political and economic comments.

Will someone be kind enough to help a guy develop his blog??

    Thank you in advance,
    Bert

The first thing I want to do is find a way to make sure my subscribers receive an email when they subscribe to the blog.

Secondly, I’d like to create a list of favorite blogs. I would probably put it on the right side of a page. How do I make a spot for it? I don’t know the language to even know where to look for an answer. Thanks.

Oh, and in case I didn’t mention it, I don’t know any code.

BertC – I realize you feel like you don’t know where to start. Codex has everything you need if you have the time to read through it. You will want to get familiar with WordPress in general.

Here are a few tips for your specific question here.

1: Go to Google.com and just start searching for close to your topic key phrases(WordPress email plugin auto email, automatic email program for WordPress) and see what you will find.

2: Go to your dashboard and go to your plugins area and click “add new” and search in there for an email program.

Hope that helps. If you don’t like reading how to’s necessarily my company is just launching learnhowtowp.com where we are creating a large library of easy short videos that may be of help to you.

You can create a test registration and see if you receive email

When you click on appearance>>>>Widgets you will find a widget called Meta
You can drag the widget to right where ever you want.
and you mange the links by clicking Links in admin

I cannot install 0.83b (Beta). How can I download v. 0.82b? I can follow the screenshots for v. 0.82b and get it installed.

I have finally installed v. 0.82b. Now, my question is- will the plugin send out emails automatically when I publish a new post, or do I have to hit the button “Notify users about this post” in the “Email” box on the upper right of the page?

You need send by clicking on the link in post will take you a page where you select who you want email update to.

I have .83b and there is feature where i can schedule I do not know .82b has the feature.

well,, that is useless. I want to set it up so that it goes to all subscribers. I don’t want to plug in email addresses every time I have a new post. What help is that?? That makes the plugin completely useless. It would be just as easy to use my Outlook program and address book.

No you highlight all users in the box that you want to send the email to and then send and it will send to highlighted members.
