Looking for a Theme or Plugin

I’m looking for a theme or a plugin that allows me to create and/or reposition elements on a wordpress site so that it’s not just a long series of posts. It would be similar to a slider, but which could be used to separate out categories into perhaps a four-quadrant layout on the front page.
