  • Alright, no. That looks really.. how should I say this… spam-ish. It′s a plain layout, white div on black background, and it′s just crawling in comercial. There′s so much comercial it′s almost hard to find the actual content.

I have 3 tips for improvement:

    1. Quit the spamming. If Your site looks like a gigantic spam-folder then no one is going to go to your site and click on the links, so you′re not going to make any money off it anyways.

    2. Redesign, get creatice, play with colors and headers, make something that everyone hasn′t seen a hundred times. Here′s my site; coldnation.org
As you can see it contains very little aside from posts and it has an easily recognizable design.

    3. Be clear with what your site is about. After looking at your site for a while I still have no idea what EKC means. Efficently Kluttered Cube? You could at the very least add some sort of about-page or introductory text.

When first going to your site, I’m completely lost. I have no clue what your site is all about. KISS… Keep It Simple Stupid Get rid of the ads OR if you are going to have them, make them further down and just have a small banner(s)

example: https://www.cellphoneshots.com when you first come to the site, you know exactly what the site is all about… then to the lower right at the bottom I have only one ad.

    lol, WOW.

Ok 1 I dont spam, im not uing mysite to make money. thought the ads made the site look more official. if you guys look up i was only concern with the look and feel ( i explained i havent added the content i have.) overall im greatful for the feedback. I think maybe the “STUPID” and all was to much but i accept. cellphoneshots.com was informative and well constructed. coldnation just looks to plain.

Oh yeah im fixing up a logo now so thats why the “EKC” is all you see for now…..lol, i forgot how hard the WP walk way can be…..lol

KISS or Keep It Simple Stupid is just a philosophy or concept only. Please understand in no way did I refer it to you.

Go to https://www.cooltext.com and create yourself a logo

you mind taking another look. https://www.everykidcount.org

    Thanks in advance

@buck thanks for your insight. i really appreciate the feed back and thanks for all your advice.

    Hi EKC,
Just had a good look at your site and here are my thoughts and suggestions on the site’s load time and appearance.
    1. I do agree with a couple of users here, do drop in some color.
    2. The content area is surrounded by a drop shadow, and this effect is lost in the background(bg) color because the bg color is darker than the shadow (ref: https://i.imgur.com/6ZkWv.png). As an alternative you can change the gray bg color to white or something lighter
    3. If you are gonna change the BG color, you might want to make the links a darker color so it stands out on the bg
    4. the ‘home’ link is too small. General rule of thumb is making the whole header image link back to the ‘home’ page.
    5. This sites’s been designed for a very large width. This makes the text in the content area stretch. The rule of thumb is to have 6-8 words a line before it breaks. This is easy to read, anything over or under that limit may make it a wee bit difficult to read. This point is not a necessity but worth checking into.
    6. The header image can be limited to 960 pixel instead of 1050 pixel. This makes the site more easily readable on people’s computers with monitors of a lower resolution.
    7. The left floating ‘social’ links rite now look a lill intrusive, they can be fixed to the page somewhere in the content. At times it covers up the ‘home’ icon and can be seen a s a bit unintuitive.
    8. I would remove the “Site Lock Secure” feature at the bottom. If your site is what it says it is, dont worry about proving this to who ever lands up at your site that it’s not spam. Having this feature currently made me wonder if this site had spam content. If that didn’t exist I would have not though otherwise.
    9. I may not be completely right about this, but I think everytime I go to a new link, the header image is getting downloaded again. I do believe there is a method of dropping in code at the .httpaccess, which instructs the browser to now constantly check to see if the header image is new and download it again. … Or it may be because my internet connection is slow this evening .. ??
    10. The site’s content area has rounded edges. try and keep that consistent with the header image too.

I hope you find these suggestions useful
    Cheers and all the best!

Just checked out your renewed site. It looks way better!

I don’t know what the website is supposed to portray, and please don’t take this wrong – but I would never have that dog on the front page of any website. I’m not attacking anything…but perception is EVERYTHING in this wide world of ours… good luck man.

I think the “body” still needs a little flavor too…can’t quite put my finger on it though…

wow, i really appreciate all of this. especially the in depth feedback from ajay (thanks a lot). I guess im gonna be busy today. a lot of the images and all im just playing putting them in, but it does make me wanna address smac2k….”perception is also the problem”. This dog is a 10 month old loving pit bull. raised primarily around children and helps with the children a lot. Now he wont be the EKC mascot, (Hmm) but a lot of what we do is working with kids/youth that are perceived to be bad kids, thugs and many other things. kinda like the pit bull, kids aren’t bad they are influenced by bad people and things.

I can agree with you smac2k i think the body needs a little something….

thank you all again really. once i find out why most of my pages arent showing up now. i will get back on the job

Hi, I’m a novice, so please take my comments with a grain of salt. Since you are still in the creative stage, I’m sure some of my ideas are things you have already thought of.
    1. Maybe use columns. They always break the landscape up. The sidebars can give you room for recent post, twitter feeds, ways to donate, etc.
    2. Menu bar. It’s always nice to know how to get around ??
    3. Gallery page. It could have photos of the kids, events with the kids, etc. (I noticed you mentioned the pages weren’t showing up, so you may already have this.)
    4. Color. I would add a bit more. I think you could keep the logo header, but maybe if you add sidebars the widget titles could have a background color.
Oh, I think the pit bull would make a great mascot!
I think you’re off to a great start.
