Looking For Input on How to Complete Project

Hey Guys,

I’m hoping that you seasoned folks might have an idea on how I can make this work..

I’ve been wanting to do a “This Day In History” page so that when you’re viewing the page, it shows the events that I’ve populated in a list form, but also would allow you to skip ahead or back to a different date. The plugins for ‘This Day in History’ leave a lot to be desired, so I’m wondering if I can do it by putting all the events in a Google Calendar and then find a plugin that will display the calendar events in the format I want (Agenda), and still allow people to flip around to other dates.

Then I figured, I might as well make a second Page with a more traditional calendar look that has other dates (upcoming festivals in the state) that I’ve populated. I’d do this by just creating a separate Google Calendar, then hopefully I can create two different calendar short codes that will pull the associated data.

I’ve tried a couple plugins but the one that seems most usable (localendar) requires that I set up an account with them and then create the events in their calendar, and then it’ll display them on my site via a shortcode. Isn’t there anyway I can do this with a plugin that will just pull the data directly from a Google Calendar? It doesn’t even have to be interactive, it’s just a list basically.
