Looking for more styling examples (or next template version)

In general, I like the List-Category-Posts plugin and have used it for over two years.
But I still do not understand how to control styling in the shortcode to remove unnecessary line breaks between title/date/author. See my experiments at
https://commons.trincoll.edu/cssp/list-category-posts-test/Can you suggest more shortcode examples that match what I am looking for?
I also see that you’re working on the next version, which may include better template tools and instructions. Maybe that will solve my problem?
