Looking for recommendations

  • Hi, I am creating a website for a small business who offer cake decorating classes. I am new to wordpress and finding my way around. can anyone recommend a theme that can help me present their website in the following ways:

    Clickable image icons linking to other pages explaining a particular class – ideally on the homepage

    contact information, terms and conditions link, social media links all within the Footer section

    Recommended banner size for a static image at the top of pages or how to have a rolling slideshow of images as the header

    Recommended e-commerce plugin that displays an image of product/class on the left and a brief summary description next to photo on the right. List format.

    Any help with this would be very gratefully received.

  • Customizr theme I would recommend or the twenty twelve is good, a lot of nice themes it’s a questions of trial and error.

    Clickable images: add a link via kitchen sink, click on image then link icon in kitchen sink, another box opens put in the page ie full url cut and paste it from your browser of the site add title,click ok
    You can add a contact page by using contact form7 this is a plugin which adds a bit of code to the page you set for contact page.

    Sharaholic plugin is good for social media icons

    Slide show you make the banners in Photoshop for customizr 1170 by 500
    and the wordpress is 960 by 250
    E commerce plugin hmmm WP ecommerce, Woo,
    This is a a great video on the how to’s of setting up customizr but watch and re-watch to get it right
