• What I’m looking for is a way to make my sidebars “tall”, so that the left and right-hand sidebars run from the top of the screen on down, sandwiching the header, the main section, and the footer between them.

    Most Themes seem to have:

    —-header—-
    sb | main | sb
    —-footer—-

    what I want is

    sb | head | sb
    sb | main | sb
    sb | foot | sb

Where each sb goes all the way from top to bottom. This way the sidebars can be made to be always present while my content can be scrolled up and down. I tried doing this with the Atahualpa theme and couldn’t get a browser-independent solution, and was eventually told why it wouldn’t work. Bummer, because that’s an otherwise rather nice theme. I certainly can’t figure out how to do it in 2010.

Is there a theme that allows this? A way to code the sidebars in 2010? I can’t even figure out how to ask the question.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks —

  • It’s quite easy to do if you know how to rework your entire layout and CSS positioning in the style sheet but almost impossible to explain here.

Heh — If I knew that much CSS I probably wouldn’t even need WP. *grin* (Just kidding.)

Could you possibly point me to an online (or dead-tree) instruction set? I have

      WP for Dummies

    and

      Stylin’ with CSS

but the former is a little simplistic and the latter doesn’t have explanations in easy to follow form.
