    Hello
I have an SSL certificate activated on hosting company – site set up as https://domainname.co.uk certificate states www. although both with and without are included.

Have added Rewrite in htaccess file to redirect to https://www.domainname.co.uk This is causing problems and wondered if I changed the htaccess rewrite to https://domainname.co.uk first then used this plugin to fix ‘mixed content warnings regarding images’ particularly with a slider (slideshow) on the home page.

Is that the best way to do it and I intend to purchase the premium option so it can be scanned prior to activating it.

If I change the htaccess file do I have to wait a few days until that has propagated.

Sorry for all the questions but it has been a bit of a journey getting to this stage.

    Many thanks

I don’t know what problems your htaccess is causing, but I would recommend to leave the htaccess redirection to this plugin. The plugin will redirect to https in .htaccess, and fix your mixed content.

The htaccess is directing to https://www.domainame.co.uk and I think it should be changed to https://domainname.co.uk as I am having problems with Google Search Console – If I add the plugin as well and redirect to the correct https – will it cause too many redirects. Do you know if it matters if I change the current code to the correct domain.

OR -Should I just delete the current htaccess code altogether then use this plug in?

    Thanks

I would remove the htaccess redirect and use this plugin. If you want to change your url to https://domain.com, it’s best to change it in the WordPress general settings, by changing the siteurl and homeurl. WordPress will then redirect internally.

    Hello

I have been told that you only do that on a new site – not on an existing site and I need to ensure the ecommerce etc. is secure.

If you want to change your primary url, that is what I would do. I’ve done this several times before, so I don’t see why not.

If you’re unsure about it, make a copy of your site with duplicator, install the copy on yourdomain.com/test, and check how it works out.
