• I am building a grid menu, and it will have more than 100 category items when finished. All categories are available in WooCommerce, with 2nd and 3rd level categories.
All these categories need to be added manually to MM. There is nothing what shows you in the category list which one has already been added, so you will not forget about some or add some twice.
The hierarchy of the original categories will get lost as well. After selecting a bunch of categories and adding them to MM they are all added at the end of the current menu, all in the same top level. This is very annoying.
MM is great and looks good, but it shouldn’t make use of only the rudimentary WordPress menu functions in the backend, but bring its own, advanced tool.
Today I am adding 20 new categories to WooCommerce, and I need to double check that I don’t forget some of them to add to MM, since there is absolutely no way to tell me which WooCommerce (product-) category is still not in the MM.

    Hi volkerforster,

Thanks for your review. I think your grievances with the default WordPress menu system are perfectly valid. I don’t think they anticipated such big menus being created with it. The good news is the menu screen is going to be updated in the future which should make managing your menus easier (work is being done on this at the moment).

In the mean time you might want to check out this plugin:

    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/add-descendants-as-submenu-items/

It is compatible with MMM and it will allow you to auto-populate your third level categories (without needing to touch the menu structure itself).

Thank you for the quick answer. I will better wait for what’s coming up soon ??

The plugin you recommended hasn’t been updated for 2 years, and was tested with WP 4.9.13. I am definitely not going to install this on my website.
