    Hi

I have a problem that sounds similar to this

    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/theme-editor-doesnt-work-anymore/

With WordPress Health Check, loopback fails.
Testing plugins separately every one works with the exception of Download Manager which reports the problem:
The loopback request to your site failed, this may prevent WP_Cron from working, along with theme and plugin editors.
Error encountered: (0) cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 10000 milliseconds with 0 bytes received

    Hi,
We are not facing any such issue with the “WordPress Health Check” plugin when wpdm is active. “https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/theme-editor-doesnt-work-anymore/” is already resolved in the latest version.

Thanks for the reply; the fact that you don’t see it reassures me but does not change the reality of what I see.

Any suggestions as to how I might diagnose the fault?

May you please tell me how to regenerate the issue.

strange response to the question but here goes…

Ok, I have set up an installation of ubuntu running on VMware player 15 and pulled the files from the website including the database. It still shows the problem. Still shows the problem even if I disable every other plugin except WPDM and health check & troubleshooting. Specifcally with just WPDM enabled both REST API and loopback both timeout. “Error encountered: (0) cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 10002 milliseconds with 0 bytes received”. With every other plugin enabled and download manager disabled, REST API and loopback pass.

What would you like? If I strip out all membership data (as far as I am able) would you like the files? the VMware player image? The latter is a tad large at 40 Gbytes I’m afraid. Alternatively do you have any suggestions for how I might try to diagnose it.

    Thanks in advance
    Dave

I’ve not seen a massive slowdown but there is one.

I do however see other issues – other functions can fail due to the lack of loopback. I had to put in place the alternate cron fix just so things like Updraft will run but it’s not a good solution.

At least I can reliably reproduce the fault with the files I have – problem is finding the error!

    Hi @w3eden

Are you able to help take a look at the loopback problem?

As reported last week, I have a set of files that comprise a complete working wordpress site plus the database that show the issue. Size zipped is about 100Mbytes. I have redacted membership information etc.

The issue is that when the plugin is activated and all other plugins other than Health Check are disabled, REST API and loopback tests fail with a timeout, whereas with all other plugins activated and download manager disabled, both tests pass.

WP 5.1.1, twenty seventeen theme. The files were extracted from the live server (php 7.2.16, MySQL 5.5.60, Linux, Apache) and loaded onto Ubuntu running under VM Workstation Player 15 under Windows 10 (php 7.2.15, SQL 5.7.25, Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS, Apache 2.4.29).

The problem exhibits on both systems.

    Hi

I found your reply most confusing.

You previously said you do not see the issue and you asked how you can reproduce it.

So as I said, I put together a set of files that is a complete working wordpress site that shows the problem and offered you the files.

Now you say again you do not see the issue and ask the same question again – how can you regenerate the issue.

I will contact you separately via the support email address but in summary you can reproduce the issue by loading up the files I have onto a server and importing the database files, then modify wp-config as needed, change your routing information so that references to my website route to your server, log on to the dashboard and run healthcheck.

    Best regards

    Hi

I’ve updated to the new build, but that has not resolved the issue. Loopback is still being blocked by the plugin and REST API is compromised.

Your release notes imply there was a conflict with health check but it’s more than that. It affects other plugins. For me, healthcheck still shows the problem too.

I still have the example files that show the problem if you want it.

The bug fix in version 2.9.93 labelled “Improved session management” seems to have cured the fault – REST API and loopback now show no errors. Also I had not noticed but the error report on “Background updates” labelled “A plugin has prevented updates by disabling wp_version_check() has also now been cleared.

I’ll do some more testing to make sure but that looks like it.

@liuvic you might want to retest and see if it has resolved your problem too.

    Regards
    Dave

Yes, they’ve fixed it in the Free version… Those of us who have paid for the Pro version, are still waiting for this fix to be rolled out to their paying customers.. Just a bit backwards if you ask me…

Also the WPDM Front End uploading form has issues as well, especially it seems with Z-Space settings, so that the bottom two select boxes (for Link Template and Page Template) are both broken, as they hide under the bottom of the W3 Eden Author Dashboard container… (and yes I’ve both posted about it in the WPDM Pro support forums AND sent them a temp Admin Login so they can figure out what can be done with it… Still waiting on a reply).
